General Buhari and his Team Meet With Ex-President Obasanjo
Former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo met with the team of the presidential candidate on the platform of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) General Mahammadu Buhari (rtd.) at his home in Ota, Ogun state.
The meeting occurred several hours after Obasanjo gave an audience to President Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners’ Chapel.
APC Vice-Presidential candidate, Buhari’s running mate Yemi Osinbajo and other APC leaders were also a part of the meeting.
Obasanjo apparently told the group:
“I am a card carrying member of another party but what is paramount in Nigeria so I wish you the best.
He also advised APC and Buhari to employee into their government “men and women of character” if the party wins.
Obasanjo said such people of character and integrity flourish in all political parties and also in every parts of Nigeria, continuing that when brought in, they make things better for a government, the country and the residents.
Obasanjo, who noted that he is still a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party and had chosen to remain firm in PDP at the ward level, said regardless of the political parties participating in the elections, Nigeria “comes first and should remain paramount” to him.
The former president said he called off further inquiry into the PTF when Buhari assured him that there was no personal benefit accrued to him while his tenure at the PTF lasted.
Buhari in his turn asked blessings saying that under Obasanjo he served the most lucrative appointment of the Minister of Petroleum Resources for three and a quarter years before he sent me on course.
Several days to the 2015 year news emerged that a former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari plan to form an interim government.
