Hon. Rita Orji: Events Marking Her 100 Days In Office

Hon Bulus commissions one of the projects

Saturday, October 3, 2015 marked Hon (Barr) Rita Orji’s 100 days in office. Hon Orji was sworn in to the Federal House of Representatives on June 9, 2015 and represents Ajeromi/Ifelodun Constituency. This is a district that includes Ajegunle, Olodi, Amukoko,Alaba etc and one of the largely neglected and mistreated suburbs of Lagos state.

Leaders from every corner of the constituency and beyond came together at Saint Mary’s Sports complex, Olodi, to participate in a town hall meeting that was followed by the commissioning of several projects she initiated in the constituency- among them, Borehole water schemes and Culverts to ease access among the various communities.

“It’s hard to believe that 100 days have passed since I took the oath of office, Hon Orji told the enthusiastic crowd of constituents and supporters, Royal fathers and the Clergy, but since Day 1, I’ve hit the ground running, constantly crisscrossing every part of this wonderful constituency and working tirelessly in our nation’s capital, Abuja. I will keep working hard to create employments, make education and healthcare accessible, and ensure that any form of discrimination against women and children is defeated”.
Among her accomplishments in the first 100 days, Hon Rita Orji is most proud of her commitment to job creation, fighting environmental degradation and pushing for infrastructural developments.
In her first 100 days, she has energetically pushed for the reconstruction of both federal Highways and local roads in her constituency and also successfully moved motions on the floor of the house aimed at achieving them. Electrification projects in many areas within her constituency also remain paramount in her bid to change people’s lives for the better and accelerate economic progress.

Her environmental degradation motion in the house has also moved the competent authorities to action, initiating the clearing of garbage and stopping the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in and around the constituency. She has attended over several meetings in her constituency that include locality association meetings, meetings with local business leaders and key non-profit and governmental establishments with the aim of fostering unity and building of bridges among several communities in her constituency.

“People shouldn't go into politics for the fame and glamour of being a politician. It is for people with passion, who love to serve the people. It is not about making money, it's the satisfaction of seeing your people smile when their fundamental needs as citizens are taken care of” She reiterated while addressing the people.
While handing over one of the six borehole water schemes she sank in Awodi Ora Estate, Layeni by Zumuratu and Tunkarimu areas of Ajeromi/Ifelodun, she urged them to own and maintain the boreholes she has provided for them. She also urged them to pray and support her so that she can help the people to live comfortable lives.
Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion are fellow House members, Hon Danladi Baido, representing Ardo-Kola, Lau and Karim-Lamido Federal Constituency in Taraba State and Mr Bulus Solomon-Maren, representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in Plateau.

''Rita has been talking about your problems at all the plenary sessions and I can see why because you really need the presence of government”.
``We will support and collaborate with her to drive development in Ajegunle '' he said.
Leaders of several religious bodies present also pledged their support and commitment to her cause.
