Budget Padding: Jibril Asked Dogara, Lasun To Quit

Sacked House Chairman on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin yesterday claimed that the Speaker of the House of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and three other principal officer of the House of singlehandedly padding the 2016 Budget by N60 billion.

Jibril listed other lawmakers allegedly involved in the scam as the Deputy Speaker, Yusuff Lasun, Chief Whip Alhassan Doguwa and the Minority Leader Leo Ogor
The lawmaker therefore called for their resignation claiming that they lacked the morality to legislate for the country.

In a statement made available to pressmen in Abuja, Jibrin said the principal officers were not comfortable with his independent disposition and refusal to cover up their unilateral decision to allocate to themselves N40billion of the N100billion voted for the entire National.

“I still maintained that I will never support immunity. I strongly believe with every conviction that in cleaning up the budget system and considering what transpired during 2016 Budget which I have all the facts documented, Speaker Dogara, Deputy Speaker Lasun, Whip Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor should resign.
