SSS Releases President Buhari’s Man After 5 Months

The State Security Service (SSS) has released Muhammed Umar, a former member of the Presidential Investigative Committee on Arms Procurement after five months in detention.

Premium Times reports that Umar had earlier been granted bail by an Abuja Division of the Federal High Court with a bond of N100 million in July but SSS had refused to release him.

The SSS was however forced to change its stand after trial judge Nnamdi Dimgba refused to continue with the matter when it came up in court on Thursday, December 1 until the SSS obeys his bail order.

Premium Times reports that President Buhari reportedly ordered Umar’s arrest after receiving a damning report about him.

Umar, a retired air commodore, was arrested by the SSS in June over alleged money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.
