Buhari Cancels FEC Meeting And Sends A Delegation To IDP Rann, Borno.


Report has it that the weekly FEC meeting has been cancelled and some prominent government officials has been sent to visit Rann, Borno where IDP camp was bombed in error

The delegation includes chief of staff Abba Kyari; the Minister of Defence Mansur Dan-Ali; Minister of Information Lai Mohammed and service chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled the regular Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to send a delegation of top government officials to Rann, Borno state, venue of the accidental bombing of an IDP camp on Tuesday, January 17.

The Punch reports that rather than hold FEC meeting, Buhari sent a team on condolence visit to the northern state.

The delegation includes chief of staff Abba Kyari; the Minister of Defence Mansur Dan-Ali; Minister of Information Lai Mohammed and service chiefs.

A scheduled weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council was canceled as a sign of respect to victims .

Recall that President Buhari had in a statement by his spokesman Femi Adesina on Tuesday, January 17, just hours after the incident, expressed deep regret at the accidental bombings by the Nigerian Air Force which was engaged in the final phase of mopping up insurgents in the North-east.

Buhari pledged federal help for the state government in attending to what he called “regrettable operational mistake.”
