Bribery and corruption 102 In Nigeria.

Here is another scenario on how they manipulate Nigerians inot bribery and corruption.


Nigerian: Sir I need Licence to Operate

People's servant: have you applied? Opened a File?  Paid the required fee?

Nigerian: yes sir, I have done all that.

People's servant: Okay,  come back in 6 months, by then, hopefully we will get to your turn and then look at your capability,  financial and staff strength, then possibly recommend you for approval.

Nigerian: 6 months? Haba sir! Does it take that long? I was told that it takes only two weeks! Why 6months?

People's servant: Are you questioning my position?  Do you think we play here? The licence you seek is not licence to fry akara,  but to do multi million dollars business.  We need to do our due diligence to avoid any situation that might arise.

Nigerian: Is there noting we can do to fast track things and get me this licence?

People's servant: I will think about it. See we have a new oga and he is no nonsense man, but when the right buttons are pressed, things will begin to happen.

At the end,  palms are greased,  dollars exchange hands  and licence is granted.

The life of public servants.

We can go on and on on how government officials abuse their office and enrich themselves,  but until concrete efforts are in place to check mate them, until  we make an uncontestable laws that will send culprits straight to jail without trial, the fight against corruption is only but a smokescreen.  Jonathan gave us BVN and TSA, let Buhari administration bring out more stringent measures to tighten the rope around the neck of corruption in Nigeria.
