The Cry for One Nigeria : Where Was the position Of Ndigbo
Whose fault?
To the Southern region especially South Easterners.
There was a time you dominated the civil service and government agencies until the northernization policy by the Sardauna flushed majority of the Igbos out. I guessed they consoled themselves on the fact that it's not a place to make quick money and therefore, accepted their fate. However, I suspect that, that action was part of the seated marginalization which finally boomerang into what lead to the civil war. (I stand to be corrected)
Then honesty and transparency was the other if the day. Infact, if for any reason a civil savant has a material possession that does not correspond with your earnings, such item is hidden away to avoid being seen as corrupt. That was when Igbos dominated the civil service and merit was the order of the day! Then those in business occupation recorded more wealth than the civil servants and before long civil servants were seen as 'hungry' and 'poor'. Where there are two suitors; a business man and a civil servant, ofcourse the business man will have the upper hand of getting the lady than the civil servant.....I remember vividly the civil servant shoes.....o dear God...... forgive me for I was ignorant.
Back to where I am going to....
The effect of the war and the aftermath further alienated the Igbos from the civil service, the few positions we held were taken and securing a new one became an uphill task, yet the 3R was being preached.
We ignored and strive to survive on our own, trading, buying and selling, business, became our thing and we took it prestigiously and excelled. But there is urgent need to get back into the game. We must begin to desire government jobs, we must fight for what is rightful ours, we must reclaim our position. Things must change. We won't allow our heads to be shelved any longer in our absence. No more!
We can't continue to live like stranger in our own country. The man in the north does not have two heads. He is not even as much educated, Yes it's possible they are majority now, they in power and occupying all the decision making positions and the fight will be tough, but hey, if they are not ready to allow us our rightful position, then they must not fight us to stay! It's as simple as that. Where there is no fairness, equality, and Justice, anarchy is inevitable. If you gather ant infested firewood, ofcourse lizard will be your guest!
Many benefits abound in government, if you are not there when the cake is sliced and shared, please would you blame anyone for not getting a cut? Think!
Take the CJN for instance, for 25years a southern never held that position why? Then asked what was it like before that 25years?
Solve this simple maths
[10 red balls, 3green balls, 2 blue balls in a pack, what is the probability that I will pick a blue ball from the pack without looking?] Let the answer answer you.
When a project is being thought of, at the preliminary and conception stage the consultants work with some team of staff (s) from the Presiding agency. What is the probability of having all the region represented if the total number of people from south east is 2% of the total work force? And when it's presented to the HEAD who is not a south easterner, who is more concerned with the kickback that will come to him, who is more loyal to his own region than any other regions....... tell me, would he care?....
Honestly I think that is how we miss/missed/ missing out of several benefits......trust me, I know what I am talking about.
Like my pastor would say! Get angry in your spirit and look the devil in the eyes, eyeball to eyeball and tell it....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Don't ask me how, Just wake Up.
