Hon. Chisom Promise Dike, a member of the Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has rejected an SUV gift from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The lawmaker asked Wike to keep his SUV gift and instead repair the long abandoned roads in his constituency.
Chisom Promise Dike represents Eleme, Tai and Oyigbo federal constituency of Rivers State at the House of Representatives.
Recall that Governor Wike had presented gifts of SUVs to all members of the National Assembly from the state. However, Chisom Dike declined the offer. He cited the poor state of the roads in his constituency which have became an eyesore.
Dike said roads in the area are in decrepit state and asked for government intervention to rehabilitate the roads.
He appealed to the governor to look into his plea and construct Oyigbo roads.
Speaking after the occasion, Mr Mayor Ubani, an indigene of the affected LGA commended the Rep member:
“I appreciate and commend this gesture as words are few to extend my humble thanks to him for speaking up for us.
The Governor has abandoned and forsaken the Oyigbo People and have just prioritize the development of his LGA and it’s environ as Paramount”.
Dike, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was a state legislator representing Oyigbo constituency at the Rivers State House of Assembly before winning the National Assembly election in 2019.
After his inauguration as a federal lawmaker, Chisom Promis Dike moved a motion for investigating a fire outbreak along the NNPC pipeline in Kom Kom and lzuoma communities of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers.
The lawmakers adopted the motion and set up an ad-hoc committee to probe the incident.
