Ngozi: A City In Burundi With An Igbo Name ( SEE PHOTOS (

 

The City of Ngozi is the Capital city of Ngozi Province in Burundi. The City is located in the northern part of Burundi.

To the people of Burundi, the name Ngozi means blessing and was used as result of the abundant cattle and other Natural gifts in the region. The term 'Ngozi' to the Burundis, is not borrowed from anywhere as regards to it's meaning which is synonymous to the Igbo of Southeast Nigeria. Ngozi simply means blessing, and we are glad to learn that it meant the same thing in Igbo, showing that there might have been evidence of ancient connection between the Igbos and Burundis.
